Welcome to the latest issue of The Transportist, especially to our new readers. As always you can follow on Mastodon, or RSS. By popular demand, a BlueSky feed is also available. And apparently you can follow my Mastodon account on Meta’s Threads (@transportist@mastodon.social), though it is a bit complex.

I was interviewed by ABC Upper Hunter (Newcastle NSW and environs) AM on December 18th 2024, talking about the Hunter Strategic Integrated Transport Plan and transport planning in general. This is in contrast to the non-strategic, integrated transport plan, the strategic, non-integrated plan, and the non-strategic, non-integrated transport plan. They seem to think the Hunter region will be growing a lot. Everyone thinks their area is growing. I’m less convinced. Unless it grows, public transport won’t work well. So where do you want to spend your money?
Driving into Crowds
Driver killed by police after driving truck into Killeen Mall (Texas)
San Francisco Cops fatally shoot man after he drivers into pedestrians
Car driver drives car into crowd at Christmas Market in Magdeburg, Germany, killing 4, injuring 205.
Follow up: Driver Fan Weiqiu sentence to death after car attack (in November, China’s justice system is quick).
Remember: Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.
